Last month we again attended the Mark West Stables two day hunter-jumper
show. Zoe Feldman rode her super cute POA “Super Elegant” AKA Howie to the
pony championship. Though it’s not a big division they were really good
with no stops or major mistakes.

Speaking of cute, Sarah Winton rode our school pony Glenmore Galaxy AKA
Jack in the walk trot classes and debuted in the hunters over poles. (They
learn how to do a course with poles on the ground between the standards
instead of jumps.) Sarah went home with a couple of firsts and good

In the jumper division, Chrissy Kijak rode Showy our appy pony to high
ribbons. Chrissy was preparing to go to the combined training horse trials
at Woodside in early October. This pair had been faithfully conditioning
for the mile plus gallop the cross country would require. The week before
the event we took Chrissy and  Showy to the Santa Rosa Equestrian Center
(Formally Oakridge Stables) to school cross country. Chrissy finished with
such a grin on her face it brightened the entire day.

At Woodside Chrissy and Showy were fifth after a nice and steady dressage
ride. In the stadium, unfortunately, they had a rail at a low shaded
vertical. Going into cross country they were out of the ribbons. They had
a fabulous ride cross country where Showy seemed to demonstrate an
understanding of pace. In spite of carrying no watch, and Showy tiptoeing
“delicately” (announcer’s words) through the water obstacles our pair had
a time that put them in seventh place. Now Chrissy has a lovely purple
ribbon to hang on her wall to remember her first event.

Did Chrissy enjoy it? If you ask her, her eyes light up and she says she
is going to be an event rider.

See You Later
